Bottle-conditioned still · 6.3% ABV · Russet, Discovery, Redlove, Bramley & crab apple
The Charcoal Burner is named for the ancient woodland craft that once shaped the Kent landscape — and it's every bit as earthy, slow and considered as its namesake. A complex multi-variety blend, bottle-conditioned in the traditional method, with fine bubbles that develop naturally over time.
This is a cider to open when you want to pay attention.
Tasting notes
Hazy amber in the glass with a fine, naturally occurring effervescence. The nose is earthy and complex — baked apple, dried herb, a touch of farmyard funk and underlying floral notes from the Redlove. On the palate it's layered and textured, with the tartness of Bramley and crab apple giving structure, and the Russet and Discovery adding body and a long, nutty finish.
The blend
Egremont Russet · Discovery · Redlove · Bramley · Crab apple — all grown on our farm. The crab apple is the secret ingredient: tiny, astringent and full of tannin, it gives this cider its backbone and ageing potential.
Food pairings
Made for the table. Outstanding with pork belly, roast duck, strong Cheddar, game pie or a mushroom and truffle risotto.
